The Marine Corps Specialty Training Center recently held the “Promotion Ceremony for The 114-4 Marine Corps Reserve Non-commissioned Officer Class.” The ceremony was presided over by Master Sergeant Huang, Command Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Command, symbolizing that the trainees, having undergone rigorous training and refinement, are now formally entrusted with the responsibilities of grassroots leadership, injecting steady and solid combat power into the force. The training program focused on strengthening the combat effectiveness of junior leaders. Through comprehensive and diversified course design, it aimed to holistically enhance the professional competence and leadership abilities of noncommissioned officers.
During the ceremony, Master Sergeant Huang encouraged the trainees, stating that promotion to the rank of Corporal represents recognition of their efforts and discipline. However, he reminded them that rank is not the end of honor, but the beginning of responsibility. Beyond holding themselves to high standards, they must also inspire and lead their fellow service members. He urged them to continue refining their professional skills, lead by example, and live up to the rank they wear and the trust placed upon them.
Corporal Lin Shih-Kai, one of the trainees, shared emotionally, “There is no end to a mission—only the next operation—because responsibility never leaves.” This statement not only serves as the best reflection of the trainees’ growth through training, but also highlights the critical role of noncommissioned officers as the backbone of combat power. By steadfastly holding their posts and shouldering responsibility, they lay a solid foundation for the Armed Forces’ combat readiness and national security, embodying the belief that “As long as we are in position, responsibility will not retreat.”
