Drug Detection Dogs Conduct On-Site Searches to Prevent Drug Infiltration into the Base.

To enhance base security and maintain a healthy living environment for the force, the Amphibious Assault Vehicle Maintenance Plant conducted a drug detection dog inspection of the living quarters in coordination with a higher headquarters security inspection plan. A total of three drug detection dogs were deployed for the mission, carrying out a comprehensive search under the guidance of unit officers and military police personnel. This operation demonstrated the unit’s firm commitment to preventing drugs from infiltrating the base, with the aim of proactively ensuring a cleaner and safer working and living environment for all service members.

The inspection mission focused primarily on the living quarters, with a thorough, blanket-style search of areas used for service members’ daily activities. A total of 14 locations, including dormitory rooms and common areas, were inspected to ensure that no corner where contraband might be concealed was overlooked. The dormitories, which contain personal living spaces such as individual beds, lockers, and desks, and the common areas, which serve as places for rest and recreation, are both high-traffic zones and therefore key areas requiring heightened preventive measures.

During the inspection, the drug detection dogs, following the handlers’ commands, systematically searched areas within the rooms where contraband could easily be concealed, using their highly sensitive sense of smell to conduct step-by-step screening. Personnel from the unit and the military police simultaneously monitored and documented the process on site, with video recordings and photographs taken throughout as supporting evidence. Any suspicious odors or items detected were immediately marked for follow-up imspection standards were upheld through rigorous and thorough procedures.

The Inspection results indicated that no drugs or suspicious items were found. The operation proceeded smoothly, reflecting service members’ consistent compliance with regulations and strong personal discipline, as well as demonstrating that the unit’s anti-durg awareness efforts have gradually taken root, achieving both preventive and deterrent effects. Service members also responded positively to the deployment of drug detection dogs in the base, noting that it effectively heightened awareness and vigilance against drug abuse.

In addition to conducting inspection operations, the unit actively promotes anti-drug education on a regular basis. These efforts include playing educational materials and disseminating information through social media platforms to help service members recongnize disguised forms of drugs, understand emerging threats, and learn refusal skills, while also clearly communicating reporting channels. Through these multifaceted approaches, the unit aims to strengthen safety awareness and prevent service members from falling into harm due to momentary curiosity.
