【Joint Induction Training for the Armed Forces】 Nine Academies: Staying Calm and Proficient in Combat Skills to Complete the Mission”

(Report by Youth Daily News reporters Liu Chen-wei and Yeh Hsüan-yu)

Basic training marks the beginning of a military career and serves as a crucial foundation for future combat readiness. Through a variety of realistic and intensive training programs, recruits become proficient in essential military skills while developing the composure and adaptability needed to perform under pressure and in the face of challenges.

Navy Academy recruit Chen Chen-chuan shared that during the gas chamber training, he followed standard procedures to properly don his protective mask and initially felt no discomfort. However, when ordered by the instructor to remove the mask and conduct a voice report, he immediately experienced rapid and labored breathing. It was only after exiting the chamber that he gradually recovered.

Chen emphasized that battlefield threats often arise unexpectedly, and only by cultivating calmness and quick response can one improve the chances of survival. Having undergone six years of military education since junior high school at Chung Cheng Preparatory School, he has learned to adapt swiftly to various environments. Looking ahead, he expressed full confidence in overcoming future challenges and building a solid foundation for his continued education at the military academy.

Political Warfare Academy recruit Lee Ting-han noted that during the tourniquet training course, he learned emergency procedures for treating severe bleeding or amputations in fellow soldiers and was especially impressed by the principle of “high and tight application.” Due to his unfamiliarity with the technique and the strict requirement to complete the procedure within 20 seconds, he deeply realized that successful battlefield rescue depends on continuous technical refinement during peacetime training. Only through precision and zero errors under pressure, he said, can missions be completed successfully.
